Here are a few recs for anyone looking to dip their toes in.

Call Everything on the Ice by shysweetthing
Victor learns Japanese while in Hasetsu. He doesn't tell Yuuri, and things get dicey when he overhears Yuuri and Mari talking about him in Japanese. Repeatedly.
(The subtitle of this fic should be: Victor Nikiforov really needs a hug. Luckily, he gets one. Eventually.)
This fic grabbed me by the collar and hasn't quite let me go yet. It's fun, sweet, and has wonderful characterizations for Victor, Yuuri, Yakov, and the rest of the Katsuki clan. Run, don't walk; you're in for a treat with this fic.

Imposter Syndrome by renaissance
Victor and Yuuri pretend to date and eventually fall in love. This fic is flawlessly executed and a ton of fun.

The Life of the Party by Gigi_Sinclair
Seven Grand Prix Final banquets, seven memorable moments for Christophe Giacometti.

Gigi's Chris is complex, interesting, and entirely sympathetic. This has a wonderful ending.

Gravity by Fahye
His Grace the Archduke Yuri Plisetsky wins the Ballistic Grand Tournament in his debut year, at the age of fifteen. Things go downhill from there.

Do you like well-constructed scifi crossovers? How about scorching romance? Me too! This fic has both in spades.

My Name on Your Lips by feelslikefire
Yuuri Katsuki has been betrothed to the High King's son, Victor, since he was just a child; furthermore, as an omega, he's forbidden from practicing magic in combat. For years, he's been able to put off the former because the Prince was traveling abroad, and gotten around the latter by practicing with his mentor in secret. Now Victor Nikiforov has finally returned home, and Yuuri is being summoned to the capital for their wedding. He needs a plan to put off marriage long enough to find a way to break the betrothal, while keeping his practicing from being discovered. If only the Prince didn't have other ideas.

This is the Tamora Pierce-inspired, a/b/o arranged marriage swords & sorcery AU that my heart has always yearned for, and it was made real with skill and love by feelslikefire.

comments https://marieke.dreamwidth.org/334.html recs yuri on ice public 0
